A well-established university in Worcester is creating a new role to support long-term financial planning and operational excellence. Reporting to the AVP of Finance and partnering with the CFO, this Director of FP&A will play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical ability, experience building out FP&A processes, and a collaborative mindset for working with academic and administrative leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the university’s annual budgeting process and support strategic financial planning
- Analyze financial performance and spending trends to guide decision-making and identify opportunities
- Build and maintain forecasting models, variance reporting, and dashboards for senior leadership
- Oversee the Accounts Payable function, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing
- Develop reports aligned with strategic metrics outlined in the University’s “Thrive” plan
- Improve policies and processes to enhance financial sustainability and efficiency
- Serve as a strategic finance partner to internal stakeholders across departments
What They’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- 5+ years of experience in financial management, budgeting, or FP&A
- Higher education or nonprofit experience preferred
- Strong analytical skills and experience with ERP systems and Excel modeling
- Strong communicator who can present financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Experience building or improving FP&A and reporting processes is highly valued
- Prior leadership experience is a plus
