Job Supervisory Responsibilities: Finance Department Staff (Accounting Manager and Senior Financial Analyst)
General Summary: An exempt position responsible for organizing and maintaining financial accounting systems, financial controls, contract performance and cash flow reporting. It has responsibility for directing the organization’s financial planning and accounting practices as well as its relationship with lending institutions, pay sources, contracting agent, corporate insurance agent, and the financial community.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Develops and plans department objectives with the CEO and staff including short- and long-range accounting programs in budgeting, profit analysis, accounting systems, Medicare cost reporting, contract performance, and internal auditing.
- Assists with budgeting, audit, tax, corporate accounting, purchasing, long-range forecasting, and insurance activities for the organization as directed by the CEO.
- Responsible for corporate insurance policies and the application process.
- Maintains banking relationships and approves ACH payments.
- Directs financial accounting functions to ensure timely, regular and accurate reporting of financial information. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and audit recommendations.
- Works with staff to develop and approve financial statements, including balance sheets, profit/loss statements, and analysis of variances in accounts, ratios, income/expense, as well as investment analysis, e.g., effects of fee changes on costs and profits, return on investment, plan fee schedules, all health plan revenues, and understanding of claim processing.
- Reviews all third-party contracts and monitors contract revenues. Interacts with auditors, lenders, and other third-party agencies regarding accounting and reporting functions.
- Maintains knowledge of corporate taxation as it relates to shareholder year-end distributions.
- Completes shareholder draw analyses and provides reporting to executive leadership.
- Develops and implements a set of internal controls that are consistent with industry best practices.
- Oversees the annual financial audit, other special audits including managed care contract performance and funds flow reviews.
- Coordinates the preparation and issuance of the organization’s annual reports. Reviews these, and other financial statements for Board of Directors.
- Directs the preparation of statistical information and reports for management, government, and other agencies.
- Helps reduce dependency on consulting and outside assistance with finance and reporting.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required.
Master’s degree in Finance or MBA preferred.
Experience: Minimum ten (10) years of financial management experience including at least two years in a health care organization. Must have experience with managed care contracts and analysis, IT analysis and report creation and dissemination.
Other Requirements: CPA preferred.

- Skill in identifying and resolving accounting and financial problems.
- Must have hands-on experience with, and able to utilize MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

- Ability to work creatively with management and department staff to achieve objectives.
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with both internal and external customers and partners.
- Must be able to meet deadlines.
Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.
Work Environment: Position is in a well-lighted office environment. Occasional evening and weekend work.
Mental/Physical Requirements: Involves sitting approximately 90 percent of the day, walking or standing the remainder.
