EHS Manager

Responsible for the development, administration, implementation, monitoring and improvement of our environment, health, safety, and security compliance programs, related training programs and initiatives.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develop and provide input to Environmental, Health and Safety (H&S) policy, and ensure it is communicated and understood across all US sites.
  • Provide input to annual EHS&S objectives. Communicate, and monitor progress against objectives throughout organization.
  • Partner with the workers compensation insurance carrier’s legal department, workers compensation agent, and finance functions to develop insurance strategies designed to mitigate loss.
  • Direct the workers compensation claims management process. Partner with external insurance providers and brokers to facilitate efficient claims administration.
  • Keep abreast of new, and changes to, US Regulatory and industry EH&S requirements (including any changes to relevant environmental legislation). Communicate and ensure understanding of these requirements throughout the US businesses.
  • Monitor all environmental programs that impact the organization and generate reports to various regulatory agencies in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that there are adequate documented EH&S processes and procedures in place to address the activities of the business.
  • Ensure sites are familiar with the requirements of the EH&S policies and that EH&S improvement plans exist to improve overall EH&S performance.
  • Liaise as appropriate with Customers, Regulatory Authorities and other 3rd Parties in matters relating to EH&S performance.
  • Oversee the security function of the location and liaise with contracted security company to ensure that written guard orders are being followed and adhered to.
  • Provide EH&S input to various internal groups.
  • Ensure that all accidents are reported, investigated and analyzed in order that the company can learn from the experiences.
  • Develop and implement an appropriate management system to ensure that the business is operating in line with specified Company, Regulatory and Customer EH&S specified requirements.
  • Ensure that adequate EH&S records are maintained.
  • Review and disseminate relevant EH&S data / information.
  • Maintain corporate intranet website for the EH&S portal.
  • Provide all EH&S training for the company, via online training tools, classroom and/or hands-on sessions.
     

Additional Responsibilities

  • Create, develop and implement EH&S Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
  • Manage the online website for the maintenance of all SDS (safety date sheets).
     

Minimum Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Degree in Occupational Safety or related field
  • Seven or more years of experience developing/executing safety programs in a manufacturing environment
  • Multi-site experience
  • Thorough knowledge of all environmental, health and safety regulations – OSHA, EPA and others
  • Must have excellent project/program management, communication and computer skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively at all levels of the organization
