Job Summary: As a Plumbing Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the success of our construction projects by accurately estimating costs and providing valuable insights for decision-making. You will oversee Plumbing projects from start to finish in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction Plumbing projects.
- Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to determine project requirements.
- Conduct site visits and gather necessary information for estimating purposes.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for estimating purposes.
- Manage the bid strategy and proposal effort both internally and externally, provide competitive analysis, prepare proposal pricing.
- Conduct risk assessment, create estimates, determine equipment and materials needs.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
- Review and analyze contract documents to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Monitor project costs throughout the construction process and provide recommendations for cost-saving measures.
- Assist in the development of project budgets and schedules.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Plumbing construction estimating or related role.
- HVAC estimating experience preferred but required.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field preferred.
- Proven track record of successfully estimating projects within budgetary constraints.
- Experience managing multiple bids through the entire bid process.
- Highly skilled in reading and understanding drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of commercial Plumbing construction industry, services, and market.
- Well-versed in FastPIPE and FastDUCT estimating software
- Strong mathematical skills for calculating costs and estimating timeframes.
- Verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organizational skills, accuracy, attention to detail.
- Customer service, negotiation, and planning skills.
- Time management skills; able to prioritize work and complete projects on time.
- Ability to present information in a clear and accurate manner.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Requirements:
- Sit or stand for long periods of time, with frequent interruptions, including reaching, bending, or carrying.
- Requires manual dexterity with normal hand/finger movement and coordination.
- Talking, hearing, and seeing are important elements of completing assigned tasks.
