Position Overview:
A dynamic and growing organization in the development, construction, and facility services industry is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to oversee all financial operations and work closely with executive leadership to guide financial strategy and planning. This role is responsible for evaluating financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and supporting operational excellence through data-driven decision-making. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the organization’s annual budgeting and forecasting processes, delivering accurate, timely, and actionable insights.
- Conduct actual vs. budget variance analysis and historical financial performance reviews.
- Develop financial models for short-term and long-term planning.
- Deliver performance visibility through KPI tracking, data visualization, and dashboard reporting.
- Conduct ad hoc financial analysis to support business decisions and strategy execution.
- Partner with accounting to ensure smooth and accurate month-end close processes.
- Drive finance transformation initiatives to improve efficiency and automation across financial systems.
- Identify and implement margin improvement opportunities and operational enhancements.
- Analyze financial performance and risks to inform strategy and mitigate issues proactively.
- Guide the setup and optimization of financial IT systems.
- Provide leadership on compliance and risk management strategies.
- Set goals and oversee the work of finance and accounting personnel, including payroll and internal audit teams.
- Manage audit activities and maintain strong internal controls.
- Prepare and present financial forecasts and reports for executive leadership.
- Encourage and lead change management efforts to foster innovation within finance functions.
- Monitor legislative changes and their impact on company assets and operations.
- Support the growth and development of team members by assigning high-impact projects and mentoring talent.
- Participate in cross-functional and external stakeholder communications as needed.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification is required.
- A Master’s in Finance or MBA is preferred.
Experience:
- 10–15 years of progressive experience in financial management.
- Experience within construction, development, or a related industry is highly desirable.
Skills & Competencies
- Financial Expertise:
- Proven experience in corporate finance, forecasting, compliance, and risk management.
- Deep understanding of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and audit procedures.
- Skilled in data analysis, financial software systems (e.g., SAP, Vista), and Excel.
- Leadership & Strategy:
- Demonstrated success in strategic financial planning and aligning finance operations with business goals.
- Ability to lead and inspire high-performing teams and drive continuous improvement.
- Communication:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
