About the Role:
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Grant Accountant with a strong background in federal grants, 2 CFR 200 regulations, and Oracle software. This role is ideal for an individual who is passionate about the energy, utilities, and power sector and has a keen eye for detail in managing grant funding, ensuring compliance, and optimizing financial processes.
As a Grant Accountant, you will manage the entire lifecycle of federal and state grants, ensuring proper financial documentation, regulatory compliance, and timely reporting. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure all grant activities are aligned with regulatory standards and organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Grant Management: Oversee the financial aspects of federal and state grants from award through closeout, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, including 2 CFR 200 and other applicable guidelines.
Financial Reporting: Prepare and submit timely financial reports for grant funding, including SF-425, SF-270, and other required documentation.
Compliance and Regulation: Ensure that all grant-related activities comply with federal regulations, specifically 2 CFR 200, and Department of Energy (DOE) requirements, as well as other applicable regulatory standards.
Grant Expenditure Tracking: Monitor and track grant expenditures, ensuring proper allocation of funds, timely reconciliation, and accuracy in reporting.
Oracle Software Utilization: Use Oracle financial software to record and track grant transactions, manage budgets, and generate financial reports for internal stakeholders and external auditors.
Audit Support: Assist with audits related to grants, ensuring all necessary documentation and supporting materials are available and meet regulatory standards.
Internal Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, finance teams, and leadership to ensure grant funds are allocated and used effectively, and to provide guidance on grant-related policies and procedures.
Training and Guidance: Provide training and support to internal staff on proper grant accounting practices, compliance requirements, and Oracle system use for grant-related processes.
Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to grant accounting processes, workflows, and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: 3+ years of experience in grant accounting, specifically with federal grants and 2 CFR 200 regulations, preferably in the utilities, power, or energy sector.
Oracle Software: Experience with Oracle Financials or similar financial software, particularly in tracking and reporting grant expenditures.
Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of federal grant regulations (2 CFR 200) and compliance requirements, including the ability to interpret and apply these regulations to day-to-day operations.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prepare and reconcile complex financial reports.
Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail and the ability to ensure accuracy in financial records and reporting.
Communication Skills: Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
Audit Experience: Experience supporting internal and external audits, specifically related to grants and regulatory compliance.
Proficiency in Excel: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and manage large datasets.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with grant accounting in the utilities, energy, or power sector.
Familiarity with DOE funding guidelines and other energy industry-specific regulations.
CPA or similar professional certification (or progress toward certification) is a plus.
