Hiring for an Infectious Disease RN for a company in Boston, MA.

Specialty: Tuberculosis 
Schedule: Likely either Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm or 8:30am-5pm
Pay: $60/hr

Responsibilities:

  • Communicable disease surveillance, prevention, and control measures for the City of Boston.
  • Investigating reports of communicable diseases including pathogens of public health importance, reporting outbreaks, or other situations of public health concern, including emerging pathogen events.
  • Providing nursing services at the BMC TB Clinic, including patient assessment, patient/family/significant other education, medication monitoring, and tuberculin skin testing.
  • Assisting with surveillance and control activities for mass casualty events
  • Collecting epidemiologic data as needed for analysis of communicable diseases within Boston.
  • Providing nursing support for CDC Division including vaccine clinics and other projects or activities as needed.
  • Acting as a resource re education and outreach to community-based agencies, health care facilities and providers, individuals, and other internal and external stakeholders in matters related to infectious diseases
  • Participating in staff conferences and meetings, other departmental and community committees, research activities, quality improvement activities and program planning as requested.
  • Collaborating with others throughout the Division to ensure public health preparedness
  • Performing other duties as required.
  • *If the nurse is trained to provide TB case management, they will also be conducting field investigations including home visits and site visits within Boston (Travel would be reimbursed for this) 

Qualifications: 

  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts
  • Prior experience working with infectious diseases
  • Prior experience with TB specifically is highly preferred
