IT Systems Administrator

Summary: The Information Technology Department manages the technology and computer infrastructure that drives the organization’s business systems including networks, servers and security solutions. These are in support of the Headquarters in Long Island City, NY and approximately 20 administrative and logistics locations in the Americas and Asia. This role will be responsible for servers, associated hardware, and their software systems, storage devices and network connections to ensure high availability and security of business applications. This individual also participates in the planning and implementation of policies, procedures and documentation to ensure system provisioning and maintenance is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities: • Administer Windows and some RHEL systems including install, update/upgrade, configure, patch, performance tuning and troubleshooting. • Manage virtual and physical servers, related storage environments and LAN/WAN network components. • Manage server hardware and infrastructure elements such as cooling, power, storage, and compute. • Manage email systems, and email filtering solutions such as Exchange and Mimecast. • Ensure the reliable delivery of all end user IT services, including on premises and ‘cloud’ hosted solutions. • Manage and ensure reliable operation of the company’s system backups, including file restores, system restores, and all related BC and DR elements. • Manage and maintain enterprise Endpoint Protection environment. • Monitor, appropriately respond to alerts, and administer SIEM, all on premises and remote log files, and external penetration management systems. • Minimize reactive and maximize proactive approaches to always ensure reliable operation of IT services. • Leverage scripting and automation tools, such as PowerShell, to ensure efficiency, consistency and effectiveness of all systems. • Manage Microsoft AD user accounts, which will include modifying AD user/group, GPOs and computer accounts, group policy and DFS settings and may include any other necessary configuration. • Manage, improve, document, and update networking, including TCP/IP, switches, VLANs, WLANs, routers, etc. • Manage firewalls and rulesets, including sub networks as needed and beneficial. • Ensure the security of the server infrastructure by implementing industry bestpractices regarding privacy, security, and compliance. • Develop and maintain documentation including environment, setups, and standard operating procedures. • Communicate effectively with team members, management, and other stakeholders. • Manage certificates, including obtaining and renewing from DigiCert and others. • May act as a Project Manager for in scope infrastructure and services projects. Rev 1.2025 • Skilled at troubleshooting server and networking issues. • Assist in technical support efforts through frequent interactions with end users at all levels. • As needed, provide end user support via Helpdesk for desktop & laptop computers and all business applications such as Microsoft Windows, Office 365, Adobe products, etc. • Other duties assigned by management. Qualifications: • Thorough understanding of desktop and server-based environment. • Ability to work effectively with staff and clients including concise, complete, and effective communication to management. • Strong documentation/reporting skills. • Adept at managing, troubleshooting, and maintaining Linux environments, especially RHEL. • Skilled with Backup Solutions, Patch Management Skills, Anti-Virus, and Systems Monitoring. • Consistent ability to troubleshoot, investigate, identify and resolve root causes. • Strong skills with scripting and automation tools, including PowerShell. • Fluent, written and verbal, English skills • Ability to lift 50 lbs. to lift and mount devices like UPSes and servers and storage equipment • Ability to climb and work on ladders • Ability to work in small spaces like network closets, and under and around desks for things like wiring • Work experience with NIST 800-171, ASE9120, ISO9001, ISO14001 is strongly desired. Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications: • Five years plus experience with business information systems in a corporate environment. • A+ and MS certifications and/or other appropriate certs. • Bachelor’s degree in computer science. • Less education but more extensive professional experience may be considered in lieu of four-year degree.
