Installation: Install new plumbing systems, pipes, fittings, and fixtures in both residential and commercial settings.

  • Maintenance and repair: Perform regular maintenance on plumbing systems and repair existing fixtures and pipes.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and solve plumbing problems, such as blockages, leaks, or system failures.
  • Code compliance: Ensure all work is done safely and in accordance with all local, state, and national building codes and regulations.
  • System inspection: Inspect and test plumbing systems to verify they are functioning correctly and are safe. 

Required skills and qualifications
 

  • Licensed
  • Blueprint reading: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and plans to plan installations and layouts.
  • Technical proficiency: Expertise in working with pipes, fittings, and all types of plumbing fixtures.
  • Physical abilities: Must be able to perform physical tasks like standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting heavy objects.
  • Problem-solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to handle complex issues.
  • Communication: Good communication skills for coordinating with other trades and speaking with clients.
  • Customer service: Ability to work professionally and courteously with customers. 

Additional duties

  • Supervision: Train and guide apprentice plumbers.
  • Record keeping: Maintain accurate records of work, time, and materials used.
  • Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment.
