Job Overview:
Title: Labor Relations Specialist
Hours: Hybrid 3 days on-site 2 days remote – Flexible start time
Location: Boston, MA
Pay: $40-$45, depending on experience

Summary:
This position is responsible for identifying and implementing proactive employee relations and developing resolutions to employee relations issues by providing advice, research and direction to HRBPS, leadership and employees. 
 
 Responsibilities:

  • Develops proactive relationships with employees and leaders with a focus on strengthening employee engagement. 
  • Provides advice, consultation and direction to leaders to resolve employee relations issues involving a variety of areas including but not limited to corrective action, workplace behavior, performance and attendance. 
  • Develops and modifies employee relations communication programs and provides advice to leaders for effective employee communication efforts.  Instruct leaders on techniques for successful employee meetings.   
  • Conducts internal investigations and prepares investigative reports. 
  • Prepares analysis and metrics related to employee relations issues. 
  • Collaborates with HRBPs in identifying the need for leadership training in the area of employee relations. Coordinates with Talent Management team to ensure resources and training provided. 
  • Coordinates, prepares documentation of cases, and represents organization in administrative hearings such as unemployment, MCAD and Civil Claims. 
  • Provides assistance and guidance related to Leave Administration issues as needed. 
  • Participates on organizational committees such as DEI and Wellness. 
  • Maintains collaborative, team relationships with peers and colleagues in order to effectively contribute to the working groups achievement of goals, and to help foster a positive work environment.   

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field. 
  • Five (5) years of experience Human Resources, Employee Relations, and Labor Relations. 
  • Human Resources background – specifically dealing with HR questions (labor relation preferred)
  • Union experience (preferred) 
  • Certification in Human Resources is preferred not required
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Skills & Abilities: 

  • Project management skills. 
  • Computer literacy required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office skills, HRIS, and Payroll systems.  
  • Solid knowledge of employment law, including federal and state leave laws, ADA, FLSA, PFMLA, FMLA, Labor relations/NLRA/NLRB, discrimination laws, state laws, and JCAHO standards. 
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to work as a team member and able to interact with all levels of the organization (senior management, clinical managers, physicians, etc.). 
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information. 
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member. 
  • Comfortable with ambiguity–works to resolve open questions, can define a process to resolve ambiguity, is comfortable that the plan may change.
