Description

Position Summary:
The Lead Warehouse Specialist is the senior-most member of the warehouse team, responsible for balancing advanced execution with supervisor-lite responsibilities. With 10+ years of progressive experience, this role serves as the daily extension of the Warehouse Manager, coordinating staff activities, resolving escalated issues, and ensuring operational excellence. The Lead Warehouse Specialist performs complex warehouse tasks, mentors and guides team members, and leads readiness for audits and compliance reviews. While still an individual contributor, this role supports the Manager by providing oversight at the execution level, setting the tone for accuracy, safety, and efficiency across the warehouse.
 
Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate daily warehouse activities, ensuring priorities and workloads are aligned with business needs.
  • Perform advanced warehouse tasks including complex order picking, receiving, inventory reconciliation, staging, and custom crating.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for warehouse staff on variances, NCRs, and process issues.
  • Lead preparation for audits, cycle counts, and compliance reviews, ensuring warehouse readiness.
  • Mentor, coach, and provide on-the-job training to Coordinators and Senior Specialists.
  • Assist the Warehouse Manager by monitoring team performance and escalating concerns.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance safety, efficiency, and cost savings.
  • Participate in cross-functional coordination with Warehouse, Logistics, Production, and Service teams to ensure smooth material flow.
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and serve as SME for warehouse best practices.
  • Perform hands-on warehouse tasks as needed to model best practices and support staff.

 

 

Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience:

  1. 12+ years of progressive warehouse or logistics experience, ideally in regulated industries.
  2. Expert knowledge of ERP systems, inventory management, and warehouse processes.
  3. PIT certification required; advanced rigging and hoisting experience preferred.
  4. Proven track record in inventory accuracy and audit/compliance readiness.
  5. Experience with lean/process improvement initiatives.
  6. Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
  7. Demonstrated ability to balance execution with coordination and staff guidance.
