Leasing Agent (Affordable Housing)

We are seeking an experienced LIHTC Leasing Agent to join the team at a 200+ unit tax credit property in Brooklyn. This role is ideal for a leasing professional with a strong background in affordable housing compliance and hands-on experience working with NYC Housing Development Corporation (HDC) housing lotteries.

The Leasing Agent will play a key role in maintaining occupancy while ensuring full compliance with LIHTC regulations, HDC guidelines, and Fair Housing laws.  This is a great opportunity to work with a respected property management team in a growing affordable housing portfolio

Pay rate:  $27-29/hour
Schedule:  9am – 5pm Mon-Fri (some flexibility needed for Saturday)

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full leasing process for a 200+ unit LIHTC property, including tours, applications, and move-ins
  • Process and review applicant documentation to ensure LIHTC and HDC compliance
  • Work with applicants selected through NYC Housing Connect / HDC housing lotteries
  • Conduct income certifications and eligibility reviews in accordance with LIHTC requirements
  • Prepare and maintain accurate resident files and compliance documentation
  • Coordinate move-ins and ensure proper completion of lease documentation
  • Provide exceptional customer service to prospective and current residents
  • Track unit availability and assist with maintaining high occupancy levels
  • Maintain compliance with Fair Housing regulations and company policies
  • Assist property management with administrative and leasing-related tasks as needed

Qualifications

  • LIHTC certification required
  • Experience with HDC housing lotteries / Housing Connect required
  • Minimum 2 years of affordable housing leasing experience
  • Strong knowledge of LIHTC compliance, income calculations, and documentation requirements
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency with property management software (Yardi experience preferred)
  • Ability to manage multiple applicants and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
