Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist $30-35/hr

Hiring for a Medical Assistant / Phlebotomist for a role in Wellesley Hills, MA.

Experience/Skills:

  • Both MA certificate and phlebotomy certificates are required.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years recent MA and phlebotomy experience.

Pay: $30-35/hr based on experience

Schedule: M-F 8am-4pm

RESPONSIBILITIES

Medical Assistant 

  • Interview patients about medical histories and current symptoms; document in chart and provide verbal report to the provider prior to exam and any reports he/she will need for the visit.
  • Prepare exam rooms for each patient and clean up after
  • Organization and restocking of all exam rooms, and ensuring all equipment is working properly.
  • Prepare patients for all exams with the providers.
  • Assist the physician with the physical exam as needed (during pap smears, breast exam, chaperone any examination of sensitive areas)
  • Obtain and chart patient vital signs.
  • Prep and reconciliation of patient annual exam charts at least 2 days prior to appointment date (ie: last GYN exam, eye & podiatry exam for diabetic patients, colonoscopy, mammogram etc)
  • Chart set-up for new patients (abstract their medical history into their chart once their medical records are received)
  • Administer EKGs with appropriate device = Welch Allyn vs. Kardia 12
  • Remove sutures.
  • Change and/or apply dressings on wounds.
  • Special Sales Medications: Dispense and track our “RFM medication disbursements” (ie: supplement) and provide patient updates to the provider and document in chart.
  • Collect laboratory specimens, prepare them for analysis, and send them out to the lab (ie: perform throat swab on patients, COVID/ respiratory infection collection)
  • Administer patient immunizations and injections coordinating with  NP. Timely documentation of immunizations in chart with billing codes if necessary
  • Set up a sterile environment and assist provider with minor surgical procedures, and cleaning up instruments for resterilization.
  • Perform ear cleanings.
  • Influenza vaccines: Monitor supply, point of contact for billing, return surplus supply at end of flu season
  • Perform in-office Laboratory Point Of Care Testing: o Urinalysis o Pregnancy test o Diabetic Glucose test

Phlebotomist

  • Patient interview (confirm patient allergies, fainting, fasting etc)
  • Perform blood draws. Reschedule blood draws directly with patients when unavailability of office or patient no-show
  • Prepare blood draw requisitions and labels for in office lab draws.
  • Order all phlebotomy supplies as needed from Quest.
  • Order, and track expiration dates of all laboratory testing supplies and blood testing kits
  • Perform home blood draws.
  • Consult providers before submitting Quest patient test coding inquiries.
  • Perform blood draws for patients: o In-office Lab Requisitions as requested by the providers for: upcoming p/exams, preoperative tests, medication monitoring etc.
  • Specialty Blood Draws and processing for: Vibrant America, Boston Heart, Exact Sciences, and Galleri

Administrative

  • Order clinical supplies (examination drapes, needles, etc).
  • Monthly reconciliation of all clinical supplies, vaccines and in-office medications for BUD/expiration
  • Apply billing codes for MA/Phlebotomy visits for Medical Biller to submit billing to insurance.
  • Assist with monitoring Non-clinical administrative forwarding the Patient Cases folder for each provider completing patient forms RMV handicap placard
  • Attend pharmaceutical rep meetings with the providers (Shared with NP)
  • Point of Contact for the pharmaceutical reps for the practice samples and contact them when additional samples are needed and ensure our clinical information is up to date.
  • Provide Weekly Clinical Update via email (as needed) for any blood draw orders needed for the upcoming week, and ordering for any Office supplies, medications, and vaccines. Perform various miscellaneous (handy man) tasks as needed in the exam rooms and labs.
