Medical Receptionist

Pay: $21-24/hour depending on experience

Location: Must float between offices, scheduled in advance. Floating is a non-negotiable! Morristown, New Brunswick, Summit, and Livingston, NJ

Schedule: Monday through Friday 9AM-5PM

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of experience as Medical Receptionist / Medical Administrative Assistant
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bilingual: English, Spanish preferred but not required
  • Must be able to commute between Morristown, New Brunswick, and Summit offices

Responsibilities:

  • Welcome and greet patient, clients, visitors to the department in a manner that is helpful and friendly
  • Determine purpose of visit and direct patients, clients, visitors to appropriate person or department
  • Assist patients in completing all necessary forms and documentation including medical insurance
  • Answer the phone while maintaining a polite, consistent phone manner using proper telephone etiquette (heavy call volume)
  • Receive and convey messages in writing, verbally, and electronically, as well as transfer calls as needed
  • When scheduling appointments, carefully screen patients for new address, new patient visit, or update registration and inform patients of adequate information that must be presented at time of visit
  • Schedule hospital admissions, tests, scans, and outside appointments for patients
  • Check patients in/out for their office appointments
  • Facilitate patient flow by notifying the provider of patients? arrival, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff
  • Obtain external medical reports as required by medical professionals
  • Must exercise utmost diplomacy and tact to provide excellent customer service for patients
  • Practice confidentiality and privacy protocols in accordance with clinic policies and HIPAA requirements
  • Maintain patient waiting areas, office files, and front-desk areas in a manner that is organized and neat
  • Inform patients of any existing balances noted in computer and request patient be prepared for any payment due at time of visit
  • Call patients daily to confirm upcoming appointments
  • Verify method of payment for service (Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, private payee) and collect data and/or payment as appropriate
  • Collect co-pays and payments
  • Fax, scan, and file documents
  • Prepare documents for mail-out
  • Open, stamp appropriately, and distribute incoming mail
  • Exercise problem-solving and conflict resolution skills when handling patient complaints, refers patient complaints to appropriate designated personnel as needed
  • Maintain stock office supplies
  • Performs other duties as needed
