Location: Thomaston Connecticut
Full-Time | Competitive Pay + Benefits
43.00-46.00 per hour
1st shift- 6am – 2pm or 7am-3pm

A growing global manufacturer serving leading brands in consumer products, healthcare, and personal care is seeking an experienced Toolmaker / Mold Maker to join its production team. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the plastic injection molds and tooling that support high-volume manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot plastic injection molds used in production.

  • Diagnose and resolve tooling issues affecting assembly equipment and molds.

  • Set up and operate tool room equipment including lathes, milling machines, and grinders.

  • Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to modify or fabricate tooling.

  • Perform precision work on tight-tolerance components and miniature parts.

  • Create tooling features such as angles, radii, and complex geometries.

  • Support ongoing production needs and unscheduled tooling activities.

  • Mentor apprentices or junior technicians when needed.

  • Ensure tooling meets quality standards and production requirements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Journeyperson Toolmaker certification strongly preferred.

  • 3–5+ years of experience in a plastics or injection molding manufacturing environment.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Experience working with injection mold tooling and maintenance.

  • Strong mathematical and measurement skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of plastic resins such as polypropylene and polyethylene.

  • Familiarity with injection molding processes and tooling repair.

  • Experience working with precision measurement tools and tight tolerances.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment using required PPE.

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and perform physical tasks associated with tool maintenance.
