Nurse Supervisor at Pediatric Office 

Location: Floating is required, offices are 25-30 minutes away from one another, floating is scheduled 1-month in advance

Salary: $90,000 – $95,000

Schedule: Monday through Friday 9:00AM – 5:00PM, 1-hour unpaid lunch

Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for supervising and coordinating the operations of the practice by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. The Nursing Supervisor works under the general supervision of the Physicians and the Administrator to assure that all functions related to clinical staffing, laboratory functions, inventory of medical equipment and supplies, inventory and storage of vaccines, and other aspects of patient care are completed in a competent and timely manner. In addition, the Nursing Supervisor is responsible for trouble-shooting patient/parent complaints and/or scheduling issues and working in coordination with the Business Office Manager for resolution.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing
  • Pennsylvania State RN or LPN License
  • 3-5 years of supervisory Nursing experience

Responsibilities:

  • Selects, schedules, assigns, and evaluates staff, adjusting hours and shifts as necessary
  • Orients new staff and assures that training and education needs of staff are met
  • Coordinates the work assignments of staff members
  • Evaluates activities to ensure patient care, staff relations, and efficiency of service
  • Directs the nursing assessment of all patients
  • Observes staff to ensure that nursing care is carried out as directed and treatment is administered in accordance with physician instructions
  • Participates in infection control, discharge panning, utilization review, case management, and quality assessment activities and analysis
  • Maintains vaccine inventory
  • Prepares clinical records for HEDIS review
  • Interprets and enforces practice procedures and policies
  • Provides and demonstrates leadership for clinical staff, making necessary decisions regarding patients, physicians, and employees
  • Prioritizes patient situations that require immediate action based on nursing assessment and provider availability
  • Intervenes to solve parent/patient issues as appropriate
  • Schedules support staff appropriately based on physician schedule requirements without using overtime
  • Maintains appropriate level of medical supplies, medication, and vaccines to support patient volumes
  • Assures compliance with CLIA and OSHA regulations through staff training, documentation, and monitoring the published guidelines
  • Provides on-going training and/or educational opportunities for clinical staff
  • Performs, or assigns responsibility for, daily, weekly, and monthly checks of refrigerators, crash carts, secured medications, lab equipment, and other functions, as appropriate
  • Coordinates preventative maintenance and trouble shoots medical equipment problems with appropriate external contact
  • Maintains time records and monitors weekly hours proactively to prevent overtime for clinical staff
  • Works floor as needed for staffing and periodically for the purpose of closely evaluating employees, workflow, workload, and physician needs; and to maintain own personal nursing skills
  • On-going assessment of clinical needs in the area of training, equipment replacements, upgrades and/or additions in order to make recommendations to Administrator and Physician Partners
  • Encourages teamwork among clinical staff through personal interactions and strives to minimize interpersonal conflict
  • Maintain extreme confidentiality in all areas of clinic business
  • Enhance work environment by demonstrating a positive and professional attitude with physicians, co-workers, patients, and vendor representatives
  • Other duties as assigned by Managing Partners and/or Administrator
