Pay: $34-50/hour, based on years of experience
1-4 years of experience: $34-39/hour
5-10 years of experience: $40-44/hour
10+ years of experience: $45-50/hour

Schedule: 4x12s, Monday through Thursday 6:30AM-7:00PM (end time might be earlier depending on surgical schedule)

Requirements: 

  • 2+ years of nursing experience required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Active Maine RN license
  • BLS and ACLS Certifications
  • Ophthalmology experience preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medications used by the surgeon and anesthesiologist, including preparing and dispensing narcotics

Responsibilities:

  • Provides medical and emotional support for patients pre-operatively and post-operatively in ophthalmic ambulatory surgical center
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public for patient safety
  • Exercising judgment, initiative, and possessing problem-solving skills
  • Communicating professionally with internal and external contacts
  • Providing intensive observation and treatment to patients who have undergone anesthesia
  • Providing medical and emotional support for the patient post anesthesia
  • Assisting in review of all policies and procedures on a yearly basis
  • Assisting in implementation of quality improvement program
  • Reporting and troubleshooting all broken or defective supplies or equipment
  • Ensuring HIPAA compliance
  • Providing in-service to staff where needed
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
