REMOTE POSITION
PAYROLL SPECIALIST
COMPENSATION 70,000.00-72,000.00

As the Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for processing the payroll for our employees, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and tax obligations, and maintaining accurate records of employee earnings and deductions.
• Process payrolls for all employees on a bi-weekly basis and submit them to the payroll manager for review and approval before final processing.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, labor, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
• Supports the payroll manager in maintaining accurate records of employee earnings and deductions, including vacation and sick time, overtime, and bonuses.
• Assists the payroll manager with employee inquiries related to payroll.
• Coordinates with other departments, such as HR and Accounting, to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll.
• Generate payroll reports as needed for management and other departments.
• Assists in providing documents as needed for audits by providing records and documentation to the payroll manager for review and submission.
• Works collaboratively with the payroll manager to ensure process flows are in place and being followed within the department.
• Supports the payroll manager with payroll tax functions. This will include opening tax cases as needed, updating the tax tracking worksheet, and seeing each case through to completion.
• Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Abilities
• Strong knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, and payroll taxes.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Proficient with UKG Pro and UKG Ready (Time and Attendance).
Work Experience Requirements
• At least 2-4 years of experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role.
• Multistate experience required.
• UKG Pro and UKG Ready experience required.
• Knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.
• Some knowledge of payroll taxes is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and payroll software.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
