Job Title: Pharmacy Technician I
Hours: M- F 9am-6pm or 11am – 7.30pm

Location: Lawrence MA
Pay: $22-25/hr DOE

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Assists Pharmacist to prepare and dispense medication both over the counter and using unit does medication
    methods.

  • Mixes pharmaceutical preparations, fills bottles with prescribed tablets and capsules, and prepares labels for
    bottles.

  • Assist customer with prescriptions as well as front store products and in the use of all products.
  • Processes records of medication and equipment dispensed to customers, compute charges, enters data in
    computer and bills customers and/ or Third Party.

  • Sets up prescription orders for in-store pickup and/or delivery.
  • Collects payments and reconciles the Register at the end of the day following established procedures.
  • With utmost courtesy the patients will be asked for certain documentation and any other pertinent
    information.

  • Tech will dispense meds in accordance with each insurance company policy.
  • Dispense medications to individual patients when they pick them up.
  • Must have reasoning ability (logic) to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished
    in written, oral or diagram form

  • Order processing inventory, database software.
  • Must be able to perceive the need of the customer through conversation and assist with translating those
    needs into reality, making most people feel comfortable in his/her presence, and be customer service
    oriented.

  • Travel between sites may be required.
  • Performs all and any additional duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:
    Experience

  • The Pharmacy Tech should be bilingual in Spanish and English and comfortable translating medical terminology in both languages.
  • The Pharmacy Tech I should have prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • One to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    is preferred.

  • The Pharmacy Tech I should be willing to take additional training to sharpen any skill
    deficiencies.

Education

  • Registration with State of Massachusetts as a Pharmacy Technician is required. Pharmacy Technicians are
    allowed to work as a ‘tech in training’ for up to 500 hours. Following this “training” period they are required
    to become registered.

  • CPhT Certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is not required but need to
    be working toward National Certification.

Current BLS certification recommended.
