? Position Summary

 

The Planner is a key role focused on capacity planning, material planning, and production planning and scheduling. The main objective is to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of manufactured products.

This position acts as a vital link between operations, supply chain, engineering, and quality to effectively align resources, materials, and production capacity with customer demand. The Planner will proactively anticipate constraints, recommend solutions, and drive the execution of production schedules to support on-time delivery, cost efficiency, and overall operational excellence.

Beyond daily planning, this role is essential in supporting continuous improvement initiatives, optimizing planning processes, and contributing to the overall success of the organization’s manufacturing strategy.

 

? Essential Functions

 

The Planner’s core responsibilities include:

  • Creating and maintaining weekly scheduling metrics.

  • Developing schedules for machinery, personnel, and materials (raw materials, components, and outside services) based on capacity and resources.

  • Scheduling projects and prioritizing work to meet stipulated requirements.

  • Alerting Operations management to forecasted changes and any potential impacts on labor requirements.

  • Reviewing capacity data to effectively mitigate and/or expedite schedule changes as needed.

  • Coordinating material/product release based on timelines.

  • Confirming the availability of staffing resources for jobs and scheduling accordingly.

  • Collaborating across departments to ensure that materials are on plan to meet requirements.

  • Performing other assignments as directed by the manager.


 

? Education, Training, and Experience

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of dedicated planning experience.

  • ERP/MRP Systems: 5 to 7 years of demonstrated experience with ERP/MRP systems is required.

  • Industry Preference: Experience in a regulated industry, such as medical devices, within a manufacturing setting is preferred.

  • Technical Skills: Working knowledge of productivity tools such as Microsoft Office products (Word, Project, Excel) or Google G-suite.

  • Core Competencies:

  • Demonstrated ability to make critical decisions regarding priorities.

  • Ability to influence and guide the work of others.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively multitask and problem solve in a fast-paced, high-priority environment.
