Planning Manager

We are seeking an experienced Planning Manager to oversee and coordinate all manufacturing planning activities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing strategies, managing schedules, and ensuring that projects meet deadlines and budget requirements. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
The Planning Manager will have responsibility for the systems, processes, and team members that operate work order generation, seeking opportunities within the existing backlog, and shipment of goods. 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate planning activities and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain and develop key processes for the Planning function, optimizing the current state.
  • Teach, guide, and mentor Planning personnel to gain both functional knowledge and expand breadth cross-functionally.
  • Act as a point of escalation and triage for key customer issues.
  • Own Load and Capacity process to validate that demand can be executed on the production floor while guiding the development of Planners in this capability.
  • Maintain meaningful KPIs and be able to report on daily and weekly revenue outlook.
  • Understand the responsibilities of and lead the Shipping & Receiving Manager and team through the shipment of finished goods leaving the factory.
  • Drive revenue opportunities through identifying pull-ins, capacity optimization, etc.
  • Lead change through continuous improvement initiatives that support the company’s goals.

Required Experience:

  • Experience with planning, scheduling, and materials management functions.
  • Experience in the integrated functions of Fulfillment & Distribution Warehouse Management.
  • Experience in leading continuous improvement utilizing Lean principles.
  • Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret product information, production schedules, and other process documentation.
  • Self-motivated individual that continually seeks growth and development for themselves and their teams.
  • Ability to work well independently and cross-functionally as part of an established and growing team.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships, influence, and problem-solve complex issues.
  • Computer proficiency, specifically with Microsoft Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, ERP/MRP systems.

Preferred Experience:

  • Proficient working knowledge and experience in supply chain processes and procedures including production planning, demand planning, and replenishment.
  • Experience with JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent order management software.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Optimize workflow efficiency and ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Work closely with internal teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders to streamline planning processes.
  • Implement best practices and planning tools to improve efficiency.
  • Lead and mentor a team of planners or analysts (if applicable).
  • Prepare reports, forecasts, and performance metrics for senior management.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Planning Manager or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of planning methodologies, tools, and software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, SAP, etc.).
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
  • Experience in manufacturing preferred.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
  • Leadership and team management experience is an advantage.
