A Painting/Porter position in a Bridgeport, CT, building is a maintenance role focused on maintaining the aesthetic appeal and cleanliness of the property. This role combines janitorial responsibilities with light maintenance, painting, and unit turnover tasks.
The Painter/Porter ensures that the building’s common areas, exterior grounds, and vacant units are clean, well-maintained, and visually appealing. This role requires a “can-do” attitude to handle a variety of tasks, ranging from cleaning and trash removal to painting and minor repairs.
This position is paying $21/hour with a schedule of 8am – 5pm Mon-Fri (OT available)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Painting & Surface Prep: Perform interior and exterior painting, including patching, sanding, caulking, and priming walls, trim, doors, and cabinets.
Unit Turnovers: Assist with preparing vacant apartments for new residents, including “trash-outs” (removing debris) and cleaning, in addition to painting.
Cleaning & Janitorial: Clean and sanitize common areas, including lobbies, hallways, laundry rooms, elevators, and public restrooms. This includes mopping, vacuuming, and polishing.
Grounds Maintenance: Maintain exterior curb appeal by sweeping walkways, removing trash, and performing landscaping tasks like leaf cleanup.
Light Maintenance: Assist with maintenance requests such as replacing light bulbs, swapping HVAC filters, and minor repairs.
Snow Removal: Clear snow and ice from sidewalks and walkways to ensure safe access.
Equipment Upkeep: Safely operate and maintain tools, including power washers, paint sprayers, and cleaning machinery.
Requirements
Experience: 1–2 years of experience in janitorial, porter, or maintenance work, ideally in a residential or commercial setting.
Painting Skills: Proven experience in drywall repair and professional painting techniques.
Physical Ability: Must be able to lift and move heavy objects (50+ lbs), climb ladders, and stand for long periods.
Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is frequently required.
Communication: Ability to work well on a team and interact professionally with residents.
