Program Manager – Engineering
Salary: $125,000 – $135,000
Location: Connecticut | Full-Time

A growing engineering and manufacturing organization is seeking a Program Manager to oversee complex technical projects from planning through execution. This role will work closely with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with customer requirements.

The Program Manager will report directly to the Vice President of Engineering and play a key role in coordinating resources, managing customer relationships, and driving project success in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead overall project planning, scheduling, and budget management, including manpower, equipment, materials, and cost allocation.

  • Coordinate with engineering, production, and other departments to ensure projects meet technical specifications, timelines, and budget targets.

  • Monitor project progress and identify potential risks or delays, implementing corrective actions when needed.

  • Develop alternative project plans and mitigation strategies to maintain delivery schedules.

  • Support sales and bid development efforts, contributing to project planning and governance during the proposal stage.

  • Manage contracts and customer relationships, ensuring compliance with service-level agreements and project requirements.

  • Maintain clear communication with customers and internal leadership regarding program status, risks, and solutions.

  • Oversee project team task assignments and monitor performance.

  • Conduct cost analysis and process optimization initiatives to improve efficiency and profitability.

  • Prepare documentation, reporting, and communications for both internal leadership and external customers.

  • Manage customer expectations and ensure successful delivery of project milestones.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a STEM-related discipline required.

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Management, or related STEM field preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in project or program management.

  • Experience managing contracts and customer-driven programs.

  • Background working in fast-paced, complex environments with tight deadlines.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing and production processes.

  • Experience with continuous improvement and operational efficiency initiatives.

  • Financial analysis and cost control experience.

  • Proficiency with project management tools (MS Project or similar).

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong leadership, planning, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Work Environment

  • Combination of office and manufacturing floor environment.

  • Required PPE includes safety glasses and safety shoes when in production areas.

  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
