Project Engineer
- New Product Development: Responsible for Quality by Design Assurance aspects of the New Product Development Stage Gate Process, from Concept Phase through Launch. This includes but is not limited to design review, defining metrology, facilitating FMEAs, new vendor and part qualification, control plans, PPAP, and transition to operations.
- Injection Molding Tooling and Part Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert for injection molding tooling and parts, providing technical guidance and support, and directly interacting with 3rd party molders to establish quality in design of parts, tools, approve and document process and vendor control plans.
- Program Initiatives: Lead programs & multiple projects with minimal supervision, ensuring timely and budget-compliant execution.
- Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate across teams and with other relevant stakeholders/teams to execute and train on approved initiatives
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including customers and vendors.
- Documentation and Analysis: Identify and create requirements documentation, drawings, labels, and conduct root cause analysis to resolve issues and support quality initiatives.
- Standards Management: Manage internal and external validation requirements, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications as well as PPAP, IQ OQ PQ, or similar validation standards.
- Mentorship: Mentor junior level engineers, providing guidance and support to foster their professional development as agreed with next level management.
- Technology and Systems Learning: Quickly learn and integrate new technologies, software, tools, processes, and systems and assist with leveraging these tools across teams and functions.
- Process Ownership and Development: Aligned with next level management and peers, lead the development and optimization of stage gate, EC and other processes. Identify and executing continuous improvement opportunities.
Technical Skill Requirements:
- Product Development and Stage Gate Process: Strong understanding of product development methodologies and Stage Gate processes and tools. Expert understanding of quality by design aspects of Stage Gate processes and tools.
- Injection Molding: Expert experience with injection molding tooling and part design, and injection molding equipment and processes.
- Quality and Lean Tools: Proficiency with quality, Lean, and product development tools, with the ability to learn new tools.
- CAD Software: Experience with CAD, SolidWorks and 3D printing.
- Communication and Organization: Strong verbal and written communication skills, organized and detail oriented.
- Project Management Tools: Familiarity with project management tools, such as Monday.com, MS Project or similar.
- MS Office: Extensive knowledge of MS Office suite.
Professional Experience:
- Program Management: 7+ years of experience managing product development programs and projects using a Stage Gate or similar process.
- Injection Molding: Proven experience in injection molding tooling and part design.
- Customer Interaction: Experience with customer interaction and communication.
- High-Volume Production: Experience in high-volume production and manufacturing.
- Change Management: Experience with change management and document control.
- Competitive Benchmarking: Experience with competitive benchmarking and specification development.
- Regulatory Certification: Familiarity with NSF/ANSI regulatory certification preferred.
- Stakeholder Management: Must maintain a positive and productive relationship with peers, management, customers and suppliers.
Education Requirement:
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering: Mechanical or Chemical engineering preferred with 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Master’s Degree in Engineering: Mechanical or Chemical engineering preferred with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
