Location: Jackson Heights, NY 
Pay: $140,000 – $165,000 (salary)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9-6p

Position Summary :
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will address the behavioral health needs of patients and clients by conducting psychiatric evaluation, prescribing and managing psychotropic medications. The primary function of the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is to diagnose, prescribe medication, monitors medications side effects and participates in the treatment process. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will provide services within the scope of the practitioner’s license, certification and professional standards.

Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent
New York State Nurse Practitioner License and Current Registration
BLS-certified
DEA Registered
MAT Certified
Minimum 2 years experience as a nurse practitioner
Excellent Oral and written communication skills
Possess the skills to appropriately assess/de-escalate/intervene in crisis
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
Demonstrate ability to interact with multicultural staff and clients, including clients of the LGBTQ community

Duties and Responsibilities include:

Determine clients’ diagnosis and psychiatric needs, prescribe the medication to be utilized during the course of treatment, including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and substance use treatment, monitor treatment course and provide education.
Conduct Psychiatric evaluations, psychiatric updates, health monitoring, and crisis intervention as needed and required by regulations
Maintain a collaborative practice agreement with a psychiatrist
Prescribe, recommend, or discontinue drugs and treatments to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders in accordance with the Collaborative Practice Agreement
Work collaboratively and consult with the Psychiatrist and care teams, function as a vital part of an interdisciplinary team environment. The care team includes, but is not limited to, the psychiatrist, LCSW’s, LMSW’s, Behavioral Health Case Managers, Medical Case Managers, physicians, nurse practitioners and nurses
Follow-up on referrals made on behalf of the participant and respond to all referrals in a timely and professional manner, recognizing the need for effective collaboration to ensure the highest levels of service provision
Participate in case conferences and multidisciplinary conferences to address the complex medical and psychosocial needs of clients
Participate in efforts to support the center’s primary care and Behavioral health integration efforts
Ensure appropriate transitions of care with external Article 31 providers, hospitals, etc.
Write reports and documentation as required
Keep abreast of current developments in patient care management, health care legislation, and community resources
Maintain professional relations with all clinic staff and clients
Participate regularly in staff development activities, including regular behavioral health, provider and multidisciplinary meetings
Perform other related duties as assigned
