Senior Accountant

Published October 21st, 2024

A global technology leader is looking for a highly skilled Senior Accountant to manage critical financial functions in the U.S. and Canada. With a team of over 250 employees spread across North America, Europe, and Asia, this is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking team.

The Role:

This is a growth role where you will take ownership of U.S. accounting functions, stepping in to manage tasks previously handled by the Director of Finance in Canada. You will oversee essential financial processes, including month-end close, reconciliations, tax filings, and financial reporting. Reporting directly to the North America Business Partner based in Canada, this role offers autonomy and the chance to make a significant impact.

This is a remote position, but candidates located in Massachusetts will occasionally need to attend in-person meetings in the Greater Boston area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage core financial processes such as month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Oversee U.S. accounting operations, taking on a leadership role in financial reporting and tax filings for U.S. and Canadian operations.
  • Handle banking transactions, payments, and preparation of cash and bank reports.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate payment processes for freelancers, vendors, and employees.
  • Generate and post monthly client invoices, manage accounts receivable, and reconcile inter-company accounts.
  • Lead inter-company reconciliations and prepare inter-company financial reports.
  • Assist with audits, budgeting, regulatory filings, and other financial projects.
  • Continuously look for ways to automate and improve accounting processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
  • CPA (or working towards it) is strongly preferred.
  • 4-5 years of accounting experience
  • Strong competencies in month-end close, tax filings, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with Canadian accounting is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with accounting software, especially Xero, is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setup with high attention to detail.

What We’re Looking For:

  • You might be a strong Staff Accountant ready for the next step, or a Senior Accountant comfortable maintaining responsibilities without immediate upward growth.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate remotely.
  • Adaptable and innovative mindset, ready to thrive in a company that is undergoing change and growth.
  • Proactive and detail-oriented, with a focus on delivering accurate and timely results.

About the Company: This company has 7 offices worldwide, with teams in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia. You’ll be the primary finance/accounting person based in the U.S., working closely with leadership in Canada and global teams to drive the company’s financial success. This is an opportunity to join a fast-evolving organization that values innovation, collaboration, and professional growth.
