Senior Accountant

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant with a strong background in consumer goods, trade-related and indirect deductions, and QuickBooks. This individual will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing complex transactions, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. The Senior Accountant will collaborate with the finance team to improve processes, provide insightful financial reports, and support the overall success of the company.


Key Responsibilities:

  • General Accounting:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, balance sheets, and other key financial reports.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
  • Perform detailed financial analysis to ensure accurate reporting of results.
  • Trade-Related & Indirect Deductions:

  • Oversee and manage trade-related deductions, rebates, and promotional expenses.
  • Analyze and reconcile customer deductions related to promotional, trade, and marketing activities.
  • Work with sales and marketing teams to ensure the proper recognition and tracking of trade deductions.
  • Ensure that all indirect deductions, such as discounts and allowances, are recorded correctly.
  • QuickBooks Expertise:

  • Manage daily accounting functions within QuickBooks, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of entries.
  • Prepare and post journal entries in QuickBooks, maintaining general ledger integrity.
  • Generate detailed financial reports from QuickBooks to support business decisions.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:

  • Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, offering insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Prepare budget variance analysis and assist in budgeting/forecasting activities.
  • Ensure all financial reports are in compliance with company policies and relevant accounting standards.
  • Audit & Compliance:

  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of all financial data.
  • Process Improvement:

  • Identify areas for process improvements within accounting operations, specifically related to trade deductions and QuickBooks usage.
  • Work with management to streamline accounting procedures and enhance reporting capabilities.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, preferably within the consumer goods industry.
  • Strong understanding of trade-related deductions, indirect deductions (e.g., allowances, discounts), and promotional expenses.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and other accounting software tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Experience working in a consumer goods or retail environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems is a plus.
