Senior Accounting Analyst – North Shore
Core Role Functions
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing all or a combination of the following core functions, critical to the financial integrity of the organization’s operations:
- Inventory & Cost Control:
- Review, update, and maintain cost calculations within the primary Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, ensuring inventory is accurately valued and standard costs are appropriately set.
- Evaluate production costs by comparing established standards to actual manufacturing expenses.
- Analyze and maintain complex component structures (Bills of Material – BOM).
- Monitor and apply materials, labor, and overhead costs accurately.
- Conduct comprehensive analysis and reconciliation of purchase price variances.
- Analyze core metrics including manufacturing efficiencies, spending variances, capacity utilization, and inventory trends.
- Operational Partnership:
- Coordinate closely with Operations/Supply Chain teams to enhance inventory controls and monitor monthly cycle count programs to ensure the accuracy of inventory balances.
- Project Cost Management:
- Develop, manage, and maintain detailed cost estimates for specific business initiatives (e.g., new product introductions and existing product revisions), collaborating with relevant cross-functional departments.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Play an active role in the monthly financial closing process, including preparing journal entries and verifying postings in the primary financial ledger.
- Review and verify daily accounting activities within the general ledger, including sales and posting analysis.
- Prepare the comprehensive monthly financial statement reporting package, which includes income statements, balance sheets, and Profit & Loss (P&L) analysis.
- Review, analyze, and update product margins and cost variances.
- Audit & Compliance:
- Actively support year-end audit procedures, including the preparation of required audit work papers and assisting with the year-end physical inventory count.
- Systems & Special Projects:
- Assist in special financial projects, system enhancements, and the establishment of new reporting initiatives.
- Provide ad hoc reporting and financial analysis upon management request.
? Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Experience: A preference for five (5) or more years of progressive accounting experience, ideally gained within a standard costing or manufacturing/production environment.
- Technical Acumen:
- Thorough understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and/or IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Familiarity with a major ERP system (e.g., for general ledger, costing, and inventory modules) is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements, such as those related to internal controls (e.g., SOX).
- Skills: Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
