Senior Business Development Manager
Location: Washington, DC, USA
Salary Range: $180,000 – $220,000
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote)

Job Description:
- Support and collaborate with the firm’s practice groups.
- Lead group business development initiatives and coordinate branding and marketing efforts.
- Provide senior business advice to Practice Group Leaders and attorneys.
- Supervise a Senior Coordinator and report to a Business Development Director or Senior Business Development Director.
- Collaborate with various teams across the firm to execute on practice group and firm priorities.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute annual business development plans in collaboration with department, practice, and working group leaders.
- Provide high-level business development advice and guidance tailored to the group’s experience and market landscape.
- Contribute innovative ideas to support client retention, expansion, and brand elevation.
- Create pitch materials and proposal responses, emphasizing relevant experience and value-added offerings.
- Assist in developing strategies to advance and capitalize on lateral recruiting efforts.
- Develop marketing collateral, website descriptions, and other client-facing materials.
- Analyze client and market intelligence to inform business development initiatives.
- Plan and execute client development events with group attorneys.
- Drive thought leadership efforts through blogs, alerts, and published articles.
- Oversee submissions to ranking publications and recognition opportunities.
- Assist in developing and managing the group’s business development budget.
- Mentor and train direct reports to maximize the BD function’s effectiveness.

- Sound judgment with confidential information and effective persuasion skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Experience in content creation and messaging development.
- Strong business and marketing acumen, with the ability to leverage research and competitive intelligence.
- Ability to delegate work effectively and mentor others for professional development.
- Familiarity with legal and business environments.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; JD, MBA, or other advanced degree may substitute for experience.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience, preferably with direct supervision experience.
- Experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred.
