Senior Cost Accountant — Danbury, CT | $110,000–$120,000 + 7% Bonus

A growing, industry-leading manufacturer is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to join their finance team. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity based in Danbury, CT, offering competitive compensation of $110,000–$120,000 plus a 7% annual bonus, along with a comprehensive benefits package.

Position Summary:
The Senior Cost Accountant will play a key role in managing accurate inventory costing, account reconciliations, and detailed cost analyses to support business operations. Reporting directly to the Senior Director, FP&A, this position is responsible for the full scope of cost accounting, month-end close activities, standard cost updates, inventory analysis, and providing critical insights to drive profitability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the cost accounting function, including item set-up, standard cost updates, and cost system integrity

  • Analyze manufacturing costs, labor absorption, variances, and recommend improvements

  • Plan, collect, and study data to determine costs of business activity, such as raw materials, labor, and inventory

  • Review product design and process changes to assess cost impacts

  • Reconcile inventory accounts and coordinate periodic physical inventory counts

  • Support month-end close, journal entries, and prepare detailed financial reports

  • Partner with production teams and cross-functional stakeholders to resolve cost anomalies and support process improvements

  • Assist with audits and train team members on cost accounting best practices

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)

  • 7+ years of cost accounting experience in a complex manufacturing environment

  • Hands-on experience with various costing methodologies and ability to recommend best-fit practices

  • Strong background in ERP systems (Microsoft D365 experience is a plus)

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate cross-functionally

  • Willingness to travel 2–3 times per year to U.S. locations or Canadian HQ
