Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Aerospace Supply Chain
Location: Connecticut | Full-Time | Hybrid Travel to Suppliers
BASE COMPENSATION: 130,000-135,000
A growing aerospace manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to serve as a key technical liaison between customers and suppliers supporting complex aerospace engine components. This role is highly cross-functional and focused on supplier development, manufacturing problem-solving, and ensuring suppliers meet demanding aerospace quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
This position is ideal for a seasoned engineer who thrives in a fast-paced aerospace environment and enjoys working directly with suppliers to solve challenging manufacturing and quality issues.
Key Responsibilities

Serve as the primary technical interface between customers and suppliers for complex aerospace components.

Research, identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers capable of meeting technical, quality, cost, and delivery requirements.

Work directly with suppliers to develop manufacturing processes, improve production methods, and resolve technical issues.

Investigate supplier nonconformances, quality escapes, and delivery delays, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.

Clearly communicate customer specifications, engineering requirements, and quality expectations to suppliers.

Lead suppliers through corrective action plans, process improvements, and technical troubleshooting.

Assess supplier capabilities, capacity, risk exposure, and overall performance.

Recommend alternative sourcing strategies when supplier performance or capabilities do not meet requirements.

Collaborate with internal teams including engineering, quality, procurement, and program management.

Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer technical requirements to ensure manufacturability and compliance.

Support business decisions related to cost, schedule, and risk management.

Travel to supplier facilities as required to support audits, development initiatives, and issue resolution.
Qualifications
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline required.
Experience
-
10+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, supplier development, supplier quality, or supply chain engineering within the aerospace industry.

Experience working with OEMs or Tier 1 / Tier 2 aerospace suppliers.

Strong knowledge of AS9100, NADCAP, and aerospace quality systems.

Proven experience resolving manufacturing, quality, and supplier performance issues.
Technical Skills

Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and aerospace technical requirements.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

Experience evaluating supplier manufacturing capabilities and production processes.
