We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead the successful execution of complex new product development and industrialization initiatives within a highly engineered manufacturing environment. This role serves as a key technical leader responsible for driving projects from concept through full-scale production, ensuring alignment across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and commercial teams.

The ideal candidate combines strong engineering expertise, manufacturing knowledge, and program leadership to deliver innovative products that meet performance, cost, and schedule objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end execution of new product development programs, ensuring successful transition from concept and design through pilot builds and sustained production.

  • Coordinate cross-functional activities across engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and operations to meet program milestones and deliverables.

  • Drive the structured product development and stage-gate process, ensuring project timelines, technical requirements, and deliverables are achieved.

  • Evaluate design for manufacturability (DFM) and collaborate with engineering teams to optimize product designs for scalable production.

  • Support supplier identification, evaluation, qualification, and process approval, working closely with strategic sourcing and manufacturing partners.

  • Develop and maintain project cost models and product cost targets, tracking cost performance throughout the development lifecycle.

  • Coordinate prototype builds, pilot production, and pre-production validation activities to ensure readiness for serial manufacturing.

  • Monitor process development, qualification, and part approval activities, supporting resolution of technical or quality issues.

  • Identify and mitigate program risks, implementing corrective actions and escalation plans when necessary.

  • Provide regular program updates to leadership, communicating status, risks, and key technical decisions.

  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to understand customer requirements, provide technical input, and support product demonstrations or sample evaluations.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging lean manufacturing principles to enhance processes and project execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.

  • Proven experience leading or supporting new product development and product launch initiatives in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, sourcing strategies, quality systems, and project management principles.

  • Experience working with a broad range of manufacturing technologies, such as:

    • Forging

    • Stamping

    • Casting

    • Polymer injection molding

    • Precision machining

    • Metal injection molding

    • Heat treatment

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive projects to completion within aggressive timelines.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment

This position is onsite within a manufacturing facility, working closely with engineering, operations, and production teams to support product development and industrialization activities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and transport items up to 20 lbs as needed.

  • Ability to operate standard computer and office equipment for extended periods.

  • Ability to remain stationary for portions of the workday while performing analytical and project management tasks.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members across the organization, both verbally and in writing.
