Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with a strong background in GAAP accounting principles and Call Report preparation. The Senior Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the overall accounting operations of the institution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Assist in the preparation and filing of the bank’s Call Report (FFIEC 031/041), ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all data reported to regulatory authorities.
- Maintain general ledger accounts, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.
- Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all financial data.
- Assist in the preparation and coordination of internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support as required.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies.
- Provide detailed variance analysis and assist management with financial decision-making processes.
- Support monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring that financial data is submitted accurately and on time.
- Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and internal stakeholders, to resolve accounting issues and streamline processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a bank or credit union environment.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Solid understanding of Call Report (FFIEC) preparation and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Proven experience with financial statement preparation, general ledger, and account reconciliations.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, VLOOKUP, etc.) and accounting software.
- Experience working with internal and external auditors.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA or working towards CPA certification.
- Experience with accounting software specific to the banking or credit union industry.
- Knowledge of federal and state banking regulations and compliance requirements.
