Staff Accountant

DESCRIPTION:
The Staff Accountant will play an integral role within the Finance team, reporting to the Corporate Controller. This role will be responsible for maintaining the general ledger in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and ensuring adequate internal controls are in place for complete and accurate financial reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Month End Close processes, including but not limited to posting of journal entries, accruals, and preparation of monthly reporting package
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • P&L variance flux analyses
  • Assist in preparation of yearend audit schedules
  • Assist in preparation of budget
  • Assist in review and monitoring of Accounts Receivable balances
  • Serve as back up to the Accounting Manager
  • Punctual with attendance and with meeting deadlines
  • Other departmental tasks as necessary

Qualifications for the Job:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a staff accountant or work in public accounting
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, required
  • Ability to work independently but also able to work collaboratively with a team
  • Advanced excel skills and ability to learn new software
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced setting
  • Attention to detail and prompt follow up
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal and communication skills required

Job Type: Full-time, Exempt

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Travel: Very occasional travel to a meeting, workshop, training, or a local campus. No overnight travel is anticipated.

Physical Requirements: Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment such as a computer and keyboard, copy/fax machine, and other general office equipment. Must have the ability to lift and carry small parcels, packages and other items up to 20 lbs., to walk short distances, and to perform sedentary work.
