Surgical Scheduler – Dermatology office

Looking for candidates that will be able to thrive in a very fast-paced work environment. Each provider currently sees ~60 patients and ramping up towards 90. The practice just added a new NP to the office in the last 3 months to assist with the increased patient load.

Location: Portsmouth, New Hampshire

Pay: $20 – $22
Schedule: 8-5p Monday to Friday

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: 1-year customer service experience in a medical office setting
  • Prior surgical scheduling required
  • Technology Applications: Computer savvy with ability to navigate between multiple systems simultaneously
    • Office utilizes NexGen, Freesia, and EMA
  • Prior EMR experience highly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 1-2 years of recent medical office experience or in a similar capacity is preferred.
  • Proficient in basic computer functions.
  • Ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Must possess excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 40 wpm is preferred.
  • Must possess attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team.
  • Ability to respond positively to constructive feedback and direction from supervisors.
  • Must demonstrate professional appearance and manner at all times.
  • Must display a friendly, cheerful, tactful, and polite demeanor, and must be compassionate and caring in dealing with others.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

Essential Duties:
The Patient Service Representative is responsible for the patient check-in process, updating computer patient personal information and insurance information, handling a multi-line phone system, medical records filing and maintenance, and collection of co-pays and cash payments.

  • Providing coverage for other surgical scheduler as needed
  • Calling patients with pathology results
  • Performs opening and closing clinic duties
  • Greets patients, checks in for appointments and verifies insurance
  • Scans documents into electronic health records
  • Maintains tidiness of waiting area and reception counter throughout the day
  • Checks schedules for added, canceled and no-show appointments throughout the day
  • Schedules follow up appointments as needed
  • Responds to designated tasks in the electronic health record
  • Orders clinic office supplies
  • Sells and tracks cosmetic products
  • Distributes mail
  • Prepares for next day scheduled appointments
