Surgical Scrub Technician

Pay: $22-40/hour, based on years of experience
Level I: 1-4 years of experience: $22-28/hour
Level II (Needs to be certified): 5-10 years of experience: $29-34/hour
Level III (Needs to be certified): 10+ years of experience: $35-40/hour

Schedule: 4x12s, Monday through Thursday 6:30AM-7:00PM (end time might be earlier depending on surgical schedule)

Requirements: 

  • 1+ year of Surgical Scrub Technician experience require
  • Needs to have one or more of the following:
  • Completed Surgical Technologist Program
  • Completed Certified Ophthalmic Technician Program
  • Completed Certified Ophthalmic Assistant Program
  • Completed Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant Program
  • Possess field experience in ophthalmic surgical procedures
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • BLS and ACLS Certifications
  • Ophthalmology experience preferred but not required

    Responsibilities:

    • Works collaboratively with the surgeon, anesthesiologist, and the RNs in the operating room ensuring quality patient care
    • Follows established protocols and procedures
    • Demonstrates knowledge regarding ocular surgery including ocular plastics
    • Ensures the patient is at the center of all work activities
    • Practices vigilant aseptic consciousness
    • Preparation of the OR, opening sterile supplies, instruments, packs, and assuring sterile technique is maintained
    • Anticipates the needs of the surgeon and assists as directed
    • Assists the surgical team with patient care and positioning
    • Decontaminates, processes, and sterilizes surgical instrumentation
    • Maintains surgical equipment
    • Reports and troubleshoots defective equipment and supplies
    • Assists with restocking operating rooms
    • Maintains surgeon preference card accuracy
    • Attends in-services
    • Communicates effectively with the surgical team and promotes a positive work environment
    • Respects team members and demonstrates a welcoming and inclusive workplace
    • Is accountable, dependable, and follows company’s core value compliance
    • Ensures HIPAA compliance
