Hiring for a mid-level Tax Accountant for a company based in Marlborough, MA.

M-F 9AM-5PM. Hybrid in office Tue/Wed, remote Mon/Thur/Friday
3-5 years related accounting experience required
Bachelor’s degree required. 
Pay rate: $40-45/hr based on experience

Description:
• Looking for someone who understanding payroll tax, compliance and payroll tax reporting

Must have an understanding for state MA payroll withholding and all tax around employment and unemployment.

This isn’t a corporate tax position
The team utilizes a propriety software calls LT tax which is similar to Master Tax
• This person would use Oracle ERP system – their work in this tool wouldn’t be extensive
• Compliance is more important than the analytical piece of payroll tax
Aiming for talent with 3-5 years of experience minimum

Payroll Tax Analyst
Ensures the timely filing and payment of payroll and unemployment tax returns for the company. and its subsidiaries. Researches federal and state tax literature to stay abreast of legislative actions and ensure compliance. Conducts audit testing and maintains documentation in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.

Major Areas of Responsibility:
• Ensures the timely payment of payroll tax liabilities for all Shared Services. Reviews weekly payroll activity reports to ensure tax compliance. Works with Payroll to resolve any tax issues. Provides Corporate Treasury with the federal and state payroll tax payments on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis. Prepares the subsequent journal entry to the General Ledger. Reconciles General Ledger payroll liability accounts on a quarterly basis.

• Acts as a liaison for the unemployment service provider. Reviews accruals for unemployment tax rates. Prepares quarterly state unemployment returns and resulting payments. Prepares unemployment tax forecasts to Treasury on a monthly basis. Reconciles unemployment General Ledger liability account on a quarterly basis.

• Researches and implements current tax technology ensuring compliance and that savings opportunities are captured.

• Researches federal and state tax literature to stay abreast of legislative actions and ensure tax compliance.

• Gathers and maintains documentation in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX). Conducts quarterly testing of audit controls in accordance with SOX.

• Special projects as assigned.

Minimum formal education, if any, required to perform this job e.g., Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Law Degree):
• Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.

Minimum job skills required to perform this job (for example: programming languages, strong interpersonal skills, computer software packages):
• Knowledge of and ability to interpret payroll and employment tax laws
• Strong PC skills
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Strong attention to detail

Minimum experience required to perform this job:
4-7 years of accounting related experience
