VP of Finance/Controller

Overview:
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Vice President of Finance/Controller to oversee and lead all financial functions for a dynamic, multi-line business. This executive role will be responsible for financial planning and analysis, budgeting, reporting, compliance, and strategic advisement to senior leadership. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment where data, innovation, and operational excellence drive decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the financial statement preparation and close process, including all sub-ledger reporting.

  • Provide rigorous, data-driven financial insights and recommendations to the CEO on key business issues.

  • Collaborate with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.

  • Drive high-level strategic execution using financial data, trends, and projections.

  • Develop enterprise-wide perspectives on financial performance and business drivers.

  • Build and automate reporting systems using various tools including POS and inventory management platforms.

  • Ensure accurate collection and filing of all applicable taxes and fees from selling activities across business units.

  • Coordinate with internal teams on regulatory filings, project tracking, and expense management.

  • Maintain strong relationships with external partners, including banks, legal counsel, and tax advisors.

  • Partner with Human Resources on compensation planning, payroll, and HR system efficiency.

  • Oversee and support any audit or financial review processes.

  • Manage and grow a small finance team responsible for AP, payroll, vendor management, and regulatory compliance.

  • Directly supervise a Senior Technology Coordinator to ensure operational alignment with financial systems.

  • Provide mentorship to cross-functional leaders and maintain high standards for leadership visibility and accountability.

  • Drive organizational culture by reinforcing core mission, values, and strategic objectives.

  • Monitor and mitigate business and financial risks, ensuring continuity and performance under public scrutiny.

  • Contribute to broader business strategy, bringing a financial lens to growth initiatives and organizational improvements.

  • Champion continuous improvement and stay informed on evolving financial best practices and industry trends.

Qualifications:

  • Proven senior leadership experience in financial management, preferably in a high-growth or multi-business environment.

  • Strong background in accounting, forecasting, and business analysis.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and influence cross-functional leaders.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with an ability to convey complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance, audit processes, and tax planning.

  • Experience with financial systems, data analytics tools, and process automation preferred.
