The Senior Technical Accountant will be instrumental in dealing with a broad range of technical accounting topics and highly visible throughout the organization. The Company’s continued growth along with current developments in US GAAP require this addition to our team!

 

The Senior Technical Accountant works closely with the Controller to ensure compliance with US GAAP.  This includes consideration of any new pronouncements or interpretation of guidance as it pertains to current operations as well as the operations of each acquisition.

 

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Serve a critical role as subject matter expert for both revenue recognition and lease accounting (ASC 606 and ASC 842, respectively)
  • Help carry out Company policies and procedures put in place because of the new revenue recognition standard (ASC 606)
  • Assist the business in the implementation of the new leasing standard (ASC 842)
  • Monitor changes to the accounting environment and proactively research and assess the impact of new accounting guidance on the Company’s financial statements
  • Provide technical accounting research related to mergers and acquisitions including review of operations and agreements, purchase price allocation and related accounting
  • Monitor major events including acquisitions, financing, significant contracts, stock-based compensation and assess their accounting impact
  • Provide technical accounting support and training to Corporate Accounting, as needed
  • Document accounting conclusions in formal memos and work with external auditors to support accounting positions
  • Contribute to the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statements, footnotes and management discussion and analysis
  • Communicate accounting conclusions to leadership including discussion on the complexities and key impacts beyond accounting
  • Update and maintain documentation regarding the Company’s accounting policies
  • Lead ad-hoc technical accounting projects, as needed

 

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent and CPA required, Master’s Degree a plus
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience at a Big 4 or large regional accounting firm
  • Prior technical accounting and ASC 606 experience strongly preferred
  • Strong US GAAP accounting knowledge, specifically focused on ASC 606 and ASC 842
  • Ability to coordinate and manage projects, be proactive and deadline-focused
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to interpret/apply technical accounting literature
  • Ability to work autonomously and act in a consultative role
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of management and teams within the organization
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced, challenging work environment
